For studentsFor universities

PRACTICAL.
INTENSIVE.
TO THE POINT.

WHAT IS

SEA:START

You don’t have a lot of time, but you’re highly motivated to actively seek entrepreneurial and innovative solutions to today’s challenges? Then our SEA:start intensive workshop for students and young professionals is just what you need.

WHAT AWAITS YOU AT

SEA:START

Over the course of four consecutive and interactive modules, you will have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the topic of Social Entrepreneurship. Get in touch with your inner social entrepreneur while obtaining the tools you need to start a business and developing your own social start-up idea with an interdisciplinary team!

FOR WHOM IS

SEA:START

SEA:start is aimed towards dedicated individuals who are ready to face societal challenges. No matter if you are a designer, an engineer, a medical professional or work in the fields of economics, humanities or biology –  we are convinced that today’s urgent social, societal and environmental questions can only be solved with interdisciplinary action.

COURSE STRUCTURE

In four interactive and hands-on modules you will learn how to become a social entrepreneur.

MODULE 1
Introduction to social entrepreneurship

What does social entrepreneurship mean? What are the different types of social startups?

MODULE 2
Methods and instruments

How to prepare a business model for a social enterprise? Which financing opportunities are available?

MODULE 3
Scaling and impact

How do you give wings to your ideas? And how do you measure social impact?

MODULE 4
Ideation

Next, you will create a sustainable social business model based on your newly generated idea. In this process you will put all the things you have learned into practice.

A social entrepreneur is a person who has both: a powerful idea to cause a positive social change and the creativity, skills, determination and drive to transform that idea into reality. Social entrepreneurs combine the savvy, opportunism, optimism and resourcefulness of business entrepreneurs, but they devote themselves to pursuing social change or „social profit“, rather than financial profit.

SEA:start – Details and Application

Become part of the solution and learn how you can meet current challenges with innovation and social entrepreneurial solutions.

In this workshop you will be introduced to the world of “Social Entrepreneurship” – and that in an interdisciplinary and interactive way. We will provide you with a toolbox that will give you a personal added value, no matter if you want to start a social enterprise yourself later on, or if you want to get involved in a company for more sustainability.

In a team with like-minded people from different disciplines, you will work on an idea that has a social and ecological impact, and also makes economic sense.

The next SEA:start will take place on 25/26.04.2024 at Landshut University of Applied Sciences. Register now using our registration form! Please note: The workshop will be held in German.

You’d like to offer SEA:start at your university?

The Social Entrepreneurship Akademie’s extensive expertise allows us to develop an application-oriented workshop for universities all over Europe. This workshop in turn inspires students, academic staff and professors to produce innovative solutions to societal challenges. Using an approach that is both interactive and exciting, our internationally experienced lecturers impart methods and instruments that will be useful to participants for generating ideas and implementing their own social startup models

Because the workshop is designed for a low number of participants (max. 25), we guarantee a high quality of training and a speedy personal learning progress. Additionally, at the end of the workshop, participants will receive a certificate as proof of their commitment.

You would like to host a SEA:start workshop yourself at your university?

As a second step, we invite university representatives from our partner schools to take part in our SEA:start Train the Trainer seminar. The goal of this seminar is to train professors and academic staff so that they can implement the SEA:start workshop at their schools and anchor it in their own lessons.

More information

To me, SEA:start represents social entrepreneurship: focus on finding solutions to societal problems and draw from them to develop new business models. This is how business development works in the 21st century – entrepreneurs can do things differently, too!

Madeleine WolfEberswalde

SEA:start is an exciting workshop with personable coaches, which conveys many important basics of social entrepreneurship in a clear and comprehensive way and offers opportunities to enlarge ones network. Thanks to the interdisciplinary mix of participants I gained rewarding new perspectives in the design thinking process while developing new business models. I've gained a lot from the hands-on work with the Business Model Canvas and the tool will help me in future to assess (own) business models in a comprehensive way. It was great fun!

Felix HerterBerlin

At first I only attended SEA:start in order to prepare a project study at a social enterprise. I found the two-day course very interesting and it left a lasting impression. Today I am a managing director at a social enterprise.

Max GrotzMunich

Thank you for two wonderful and inspiring days at SEA:start! I have to say that in ten semesters at uni, not a single seminar has been this fun! The interdisciplinary mix combined with the interactive program were truly a joy and I learned a great deal from this course.
