You want to overcome today’s challenges by using technology in a sustainable way?
Be part of our next SEA:hackathon!
SEA:hackathon is our virtual two-day event for all those who want to foster sustainable innovation by technological means. Within 48 hours we develop new ideas in heterogeneous teams – last time for creating cities that adapt a circular economy mindset.
On January 9th and 10th 2021, our hackathon took place for the first time virtually and in an international setting. For two days, the participants dealt intensively with the topic and created innovative, technological solutions in interdisciplinary teams. The teams presented their ideas at the final pitch event and received feedback from an experienced jury.

And what’s a hackathon in general?
The term ‘hackathon’ stems from the combination of ‘hacking’ and ‘marathon’. Originally it referred to the get together of coders but is now used in a broader sense. Nowadays designer, entrepreneurs, ecologists etc. are equally involved in a hackathon. Technological understanding and coding skills are an asset but no requirement. Our experts and coaches make sure to take everybody on this journey through the world of tech-solutions – whether hippie, hipster, hustler or hacker.
Why should I participate?
Join in, if you want to…
- learn how to solve ecological problems by using cutting edge technology
- develop creative ideas in an interdisciplinary team
- challenge yourself during our two-day event
Who else is involved?
The last hackathon took place in close cooperation with M:UniverCity, Hans Sauer Stiftung, Abfallwirtschaftsbetrieb München, Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship, founders @unibw, Technical University Munich as well as its Department of Architecture, der Unternehmertum, LMU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center, SEND e.V., Kreiskraft, Circular Munich and Klimaherbst. Moreover, we’re pleased to have had Amazon Web Services at our side aus our technology partner.
Last time, everything revolved around sustainable mobility. Electric cars, e-scooters, Smart City. No, for us it was all about walking, cycling, public transport and commuting. So we asked ourselves the question: How can we use technology to help people in Munich move around more sustainably?
With the help of language assistants and virtual/augmented reality, the participants developed new approaches for climate-friendly mobility in Munich.
